Pure play CDMA player MTS will offer up to three times data for the same price, for example Rs 348 will get users 1.5GB data instead of 512MB as earlier.

As reported by TechKnow earlier Sistema Shyam Tele Services (SSTL) which operates under MTS brand name, has started to cut data prices across the country starting from Delhi NCR.
Operator has slashed internetusage tariffs by up to 60 per cent in Delhi NCR circle.
The company said in a statement that data chargers for the customer are reduced to one third of the previous rate.
“We have specially designed these tariffs to provide our data customers with a world class mobile internet experience at the most affordable price backed by increased usage benefits,” Shankar Bali, chief operating officer, MTS India (Delhi NCR and Haryana Circle) said in a statement.
Earlier for Rs 348, the customer was getting 512 MB data which translates into 67.9paisa/MB, but now with the revised rates, the customer will get 1.5 GB data usage for Rs 348 which translates into 22.5 paisa/MB, which is over 60 per cent drop in usage charges, the company added.
MTS new data plans start fromRs 96 for 1GB data usage and one day validity and goes up to Rs 998 for 6 GB data usage, which will be valid for 90 days.
Besides reduction in existing data plans, the company has also introduced special tariff voucher (STV) of Rs 698 which will offer customers datausage of 4 GB data with 60 days validity.
MTS has also crossed 3 lakh data customer milestone in theDelhi NCR circle, the company added.
MTS is also offering two unlimited offerings priced at Rs 96 and Rs 298 which are valid for one day and seven days respectively. The plans will offer 1 GB and 2 GB data at up to 3.1 Mbps speed, any data usage beyond this will beat the reduced speed of up to 126 Kbps.
Also, in case of data usage beyond the free data quota in other plans users will be charged at Re 1 per MB, while other operators except Reliance (which charges 20 paisa per MB) are charging 3 paisa per KB (Rs 3 per MB).
The move was expected as 3G operators including Reliance, Aircel, Airtel, and Idea had recently cut prices, making traditionally cheaper CDMA ( EVDO ) high speed services costlier. With this price cut MTS has regained the price advantage against most of the GSM operators; however Reliance and Aircel still seems to have better data plans.
We will soon carry an analysis of all the operator prices to help you choose the best operator for your data needs.
