Google took the lid off its Nexus 7 tablet , which instead of following the high-end device league, chose tosatiate the low to mid-range tablet market’s taste buds. It is the first device to run the newest Android operating system, Jelly Bean . While there is no concrete confirmation on when the Nexus7 will hit the Indian markets, an Indian handset player, Karbonn, known for its budget handsets, plans to give us a home brewed taste of a Jelly Bean Smart Tabtablet, which will be priced around 11,000. It will hit Indian markets by
September, according to a Karbonn spokesperson.
Nexus 7 may reach India onlyafter September , which is if it really makes it here. We think the Nexus 7 will be launched in India, considering the price tag that the tablet comes attachedwith, which makes it apt forthe Indian market. However, there is no confirmation on this yet. So far, Karbonn is the only brand who’s announced to offer a tablet that features the new Jelly Bean OS in India. The competition that the phone maker put up for the Nexus will depend onlyon the specifications and the performance efficiency of the Karbonn tablet. At Rs. 11,000, the Karbonn tablet may be something to look forward to,as it features the same price as the Nexus 7. However, the price of the Nexus tablet may be slightly higher, if and when launched in India.

Let’s wait and see if it matches up to the Nexus 7’s specifications. The Nexus 7 comes equippedwith a seven-inch IPS display that boasts a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core Tegra 3 chip and 1GB of RAM.The Google Nexus 7 tablet is available in two storage capacities – 8GB and 16GB, priced approximately around Rs. 11,000 and Rs. 13,000, respectively. When it comes to the size, the Nexus tablet measures 198.5 x 120 x 10.5 mmand weighs 340 gm. The connectivity options found on the Google Nexus 7 tablet, include Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth and NFC capabilities, and the tablet also comes with Google Wallet pre-installed. However, Nexus7 does not support 3G functionality.

Moreover, thereare a handful ofdevices that have received the ICS update, despite its release last year around October. So the question is, will Jelly updates reach our existing devices?
